Glenis Bebb (Australia)

Glenis Bebb of Queensland Australia, along with husband Lindsay, owned and operated Bonsai Nursery (Brisbane), a Nationally Accredited Garden Centre in Queensland Australia, where she worked full time for over twenty years. She conducted regular bonsai courses and workshops both at the nursery and as a registered National Demonstrator throughout the country and Internationally. She has also conducted bonsai and horticultural courses for disabled students and their carers.

Glenis has served 20 years on the committee of the Bonsai Society of Queensland, 12 years as President, and 20 Years on the committee of the Association of Australian Bonsai Clubs. She has been active in the organization of National and International Conventions. She has served on the Board of BCI as Executive Director for ten years and as President of BCI since 2015. She travels extensively Internationally both teaching and studying bonsai. She also conducted specialized bonsai tours to Japan. Glen has received several awards for bonsai and their Bonsai Nursery received Garden Centre of The Year in 2004.

    Lindsay has been practicing bonsai for 47 years, and for 30 years owned and operated, with wife Glenis, a 7-day a week bonsai nursery in Brisbane. He is an international demonstrator, workshop tutor, author, lecturer and judge. He was a   Headliner at the World Bonsai Conventions in Washington DC in 2005 Puerto Rico in 2009 and Japan in 2017; a Headliner and a Judge at the BCI International 

  • convention in Chencun China in 2006, New Orleans in 2009, Yangzhou in 2013 and workshops tutor at BCI Denver 2011; Headliner at conventions in Australia and New Zealand and the All India Bonsai   Convention in Vadodara in 2012; lecturer at the ASPAC convention in Singapore and Headliner at ASPAC Taiwan 2009. Lindsay has also been a Judge of many international Bonsai and Viewing Stone contests and exhibitions.Lindsay is currently   Chairman of the World Bonsai Friendship Federation (WBFF).

Enrique Castano

Enrique Castano as a second generation bonsai artist, was introduced to Bonsai and the horticultural world at an early age. His love for nature led to his studies in biology, and he subsequently received a PhD in Biochemistry and Biophysics from the University of Rochester (NY) in 1997. He has done post doctoral in Harvard and MCRI in England. He currently is a professor at the plant research center in Merida and uses his educational background to promote Bonsai in the world. Sharing his knowledge in bonsai from esthetics, philosophy and science. He teaches and gives demonstrations in various locations around the world (China, Taiwan, UK, USA, Czech Republic, Mexico, Lithuania). Has written several articles for various magazines. BCI, Bonsai Today, Bonsai Focus, American Bonsai, International Bonsai. His trees were selected by The World Bonsai Friendship Federation and the BCI selected Bonsai on different years. He has also won various prizes including the John Naka award, Chase Rosade Award, Mexico best design award, Awards by Felab, Gold and silver medals in bonsai Olympics of WBFF, 3rd prize; the Isamel Saleh Bonsai Photo Contest, Gold Award Penjing in China, the WBFF Chairman Emeritus award and numerous first place in design award by ofBOnsai. He was part of the editors of Art of Bonsai and Knowledge of Bonsai. In 2010 he was the chairman for FEL

David DeGroot

David De Groot is Curator Emeritus of the Pacific Bonsai Museum in Federal Way, Washington, United States, where he served as managing curator for 25 years. He is an award-winning designer and author, who has been studying and practicing bonsai since 1972.

His formal study in bonsai was with Yasuo Mitsuya at Tokai-en in Toyohashi, Japan, and in formal bonsai display with Uhaku Sudo at Chikufu-en in Shimozuke, Japan.

His educational journal articles have been published throughout the U.S. and abroad, and he is author of two books published by the American Bonsai Society; “Basic Bonsai Design,” and “Principles of Bonsai Design.”

David travels widely to lecture, and has presented programs on five continents. He has served on the boards of directors for the Greater New Orleans Bonsai Society, the American Bonsai Society, and the Puget Sound Bonsai Association, and currently serves as Secretary for Bonsai Clubs International.

Moshe Emergui

Moshe Emergui born in 1963 Israel. Moshe is a landscape designer and an international keynote speaker specializing in Japanese gardens and multiple award winner for landscape design.

Moshe started his passion to Bonsai in 2001 and soon began to devote most of his free time to bonsai,

2005 held a bonsai exhibition at the Wilfrid Israel Museum for Asian Art and Studies.

In 2009 Moshe won 1st prize in the KoB-“knowledge of bonsai” competition in the Conifers category.

Over the years Moshe organized international Bonsai seminars and acted as a judge in various competitions of the Israeli Bonsai club, displayed his trees, lectured and demonstrated in the Jerusalem’s Botanical Garden.

Moshe was invited as one of the headliners/demonstrators in BCI 2017 Convention in Taiwan.

Bonsai is a central part of Moshe’s life and he spends most of his free time working on new Bonsai creations.

Since 2006, Moshe has his own studio, Bonsai Art, shop and visitors center where his life’s work is displayed to the public.

Václav Novák

Václav Novák was born on the 27th January 1952. He completed his studies at the technical college (subject of study; water transport). After finishing school he worked as machine operator on boats on Labe River. Then he worked in the glass factory in Libochovice and later on the boats again. In 1990 he established Bonsai Centrum in his native town Libochovice. He and his partner Karel Kalouš were setting up gardens, operating a nursery and, of course, growing bonsai. Since 1999 he devoted himself only to bonsai growing. He organizes seminars, demos, and exhibits his bonsai trees in the Czech Republic and abroad (England, France, Belgium, Italy, Germany, Spain, Poland, Slovakia, Mexico, South Africa, Brazil, USA, Vietnam, China, etc.).

His interest in bonsai growing arose after the lecture of Mr. Hideo Kato (Japan) which was held in Prague in 1982. At first bonsai growing was only his hobby but later it became also his job. He is also co-founder of Bonsai Club Libochovice. It was founded in 1990. The Czech Bonsai 

Association was founded in 1997 on his initiative. He was elected its president on the establishing convention of CBA. CBA was accepted 1998 into EBA. CBA was charged with the arranging of the 19th EBA-ESA congress in 2003. This congress was held in Jihlava.

In May 2004 at the 20th EBA Congress in San Marino he was elected to the EBA board as technical adviser.

Jack Sustic

Jack Sustic’s interest in bonsai began in the mid 1980s while serving in the Military in South Korea. In 1996, Jack was selected as the first intern at the National Bonsai & Penjing Museum, U.S. National Arboretum in Washington DC and in 2002 was appointed Museum Curator, retiring in November of 2016. He has received formal bonsai training from masters in both the United States and Japan. In 2005 one of his trees was selected as an International winner in the World Bonsai Friendship Federation (WBFF) photo contest and his trees have been exhibited in numerous local and national bonsai exhibitions. A membe

of several bonsai and viewing stone organizations he is an honorary member of Nanpu Kai, a study group comprised of John Naka’s students. He served as co-chair of the 5th World Bonsai Convention in 2005 and currently serves as the WBFF North American Regional Director, President of the North American Bonsai Federation (NABF) and Co-President of the National Bonsai Foundation (NBF). Jack keeps busy teaching, traveling and maintaining his own bonsai collection in his home state of Michigan.

Wu Dejun

Wu De-jun, comes from Tongbai County, Henan Province, graduated from the Arts Department of He Nan University in painting.

He is the vice president of Henan Bonsai Association, the director of the Creation Committee of Henan Bonsai Association.
Since the last century in 90s, he explored forward in the bonsai creation unremitting diligently. In the long-term practice, he combined painting skill and bonsai modeling together, and mixed central plains culture and personal accumulation into an organic whole. So he created bonsai works with strong regional characteristics and his personal style. He is good at pine and cypress bonsai and others.

Zhang Zhigang

Zhang Zhigang was born in 1975 in Shouguang, Shandong Province. He is the owner of Huangshan Inspiration Garden. National Registered Architect, Landscape Architect, BCI International Bonsai Master, Chinese Bonsai Master.Now he is deputy secretary-general of the Bonsai Ornamental Branch of Chinese Landscape Architecture Society.Professor He Gansun, a master of bonsai art in China, has been engaged in bonsai production research for more than 20 years. He has published more than 30 bonsai articles and a monograph "Bonsai of Chinese Trees and Stones".
The work follows nature, pays attention to intention, takes action as the soul, and does not stick to one pattern. He has won the highest prize in many pot exhibitions at home and abroad. His representative works include Spring Tide Rising, Alpine Flowing Water, Dancing Mountain Forest and so on.

Peng Nianlun

Peng Nianlun, born in Zunyi, Guizhou in 1957, loved mountains and rivers from his childhood and lived in stone forests. In 1989, he joined the original Zunyi Bonsai Association and is currently the vice 

president of Zunyi Bonsai Association. He has participated in bonsai competition many times and won various awards.    In bonsai creation, we pay attention to the production of "landscape bonsai" and "water and drought bonsai", and are good at making bonsai representing local landscape characteristics using local materials.

Wang Hengliang

Wang Hengliang, male, was born in January 1956 in Bengbu City, Anhui Province. His ancestral home is Tengzhou, Shandong Province. Now he is BCI World Bonsai Master, Member of World Bonsai Society, Deputy Secretary-General of Flower Bonsai and Stone Appreciation Branch of Chinese Landscape 

Architecture Society, Honorary President of Bengbu Bonsai Association. He was the president of Anhui 

Bonsai Association. In 2011, he was awarded the title of "Master of Chinese Bonsai Art" by the Chinese Landscape Architecture Society.

His works of Ligustrum Leaf "Impression of Huangshan", Juniper "Alpine Flowing Water", Elm "Mengbi Shenghui" and Elm "Chaotic Cloud FeiDu" won the Gold Prize of the Third, Sixth, Seventh and Eighth China Bonsai Evaluation Exhibition. In recent years, Wang Hengliang's traditional pine and cypress paintings have been widely praised by the industry for their unique style. In order to spread bonsai culture and cultivate bonsai production successors, Wang Hengliang held several bonsai public welfare halls for seven consecutive years, which enrolled students nationwide and was well received.

He has been engaged in bonsai art creation for more than 30 years and devotes himself to promoting the healthy development of bonsai art in China. Its bonsai artistic creation style is rigorous and free, and it has a deep knowledge of pine and cypress, miscellaneous wood bonsai. It is not only proficient in large and medium-sized bonsai creation, but also a comprehensive bonsai artist with deep knowledge of sketch bonsai and landscape bonsai creation. The works have won the unanimous favor of the vast number of bonsai people.

Since 1983, he has been engaged in bonsai art creation. Bian Hai

Bian Hai, male, born in 1972, has been taught by Master Song Zhiping and Master Hu Leguo successively. In the mid-1990s, he was engaged in bonsai production professionally. His works were awarded many times in the provincial and national Asia-Pacific bonsai exhibition and published.

Dozens of articles on bonsai production have been well received in the national bonsai professional journals. He held the 6th Bonsai Exhibition in Zhejiang Province, the Sino-foreign Bonsai Creation Exhibition in Baoshengyuan, and the 4th National Bonsai Seminar.
