Zunyi, known as Bozhou in ancient times, has its name traced back to the 16^th year of Zhenguan, Tang Dynasty. The meaning of its name is derived from Shang Shu: "unbiased and obedient to the King". It has the territory covering an area of 30,762 square kilometers and has jurisdiction over 3 districts, 2 cities, 9 counties, Xinpu New Area and Southern New Area. It boasts a population with household registration of 8 million, including a population of nearly 2 million in the downtown area. Located on the main sea route in southwest China and fully included into the Yangtze River economic belt, it is the second largest city in Guizhou Province. In 2017, the city had regional GDP of RMB 274.859 billion, an increase of 12.1%; the industrial value added above designated size of RMB 118.315 billion, an increase of 11.7%, and the investment in fixed assets over RMB 5 million of RMB 252.362 billion, an increase of 22%; the total fiscal revenue of RMB 58.631 billion yuan, an increase of 22.1%; the general public budget revenue of RMB 21.639 billion yuan, an increase of 17.9%, and the per capita disposable income of urban and rural residents of RMB 29,617 and RMB 11,130, respectively, an increase of 9.3% and 10.1%, respectively. Chishui is the first city in the province to lift itself out of poverty.

    Red Zunyi is a classic city which creates an immortal monument with great turning points. In 1935, the Red Army on the Long March fought here for more than three months and held the history-making Zunyi Meeting. The Red Army created the classic cases of four crossings of Chishui River, and wrote the tragic and magnificent masterpiece "Recalling Qin'e· Loushan Pass". It is the place where the first generation of the Party's central leadership began to take shape, where Mao Zedong Thought was formed, and where the Party began to solve its own major problems independently. Zunyi boasts excellent liquor, mountains, rivers, and tea.  Being elegant and popular, Zunyi liquor has been through the most legendary and classic stories throughout the ancient and modern times. Moutai, Dong Liquor, Xi Liquor and Zhen Liquor are well known around China. Zunyi tea, praised by Lu Yu's "The Classics of Tea" as "it tastes excellent". Zunyi takes the first place in Guizhou in terms of the area of tea garden, and "Meitan Cuiya", "Fenggang Emerald", "Zunyi Red" and "Zheng'an White Tea" frequently win gold medals. Beautiful Zunyi has abundant accumulation with natural and humanistic landscapes scattered everywhere, including mysterious and remote Kingdiom of Alsophila spinulosa, Wujiang River with varying sceneries, Shuanghe Karst Cave as the longest one in Asia, and Bamboo Sea, Tea Sea and Flower Sea all like nature itself. It boasts Danxia landform and Hailongtun Tusi site as "double world heritage". It has the forest coverage rate of 59%. Two hundred thousand years ago, ancient humans lived here. Yin Zhenkai, a master of philology in the Eastern Han Dynasty, pioneered cultural education in Southwest China. During the War of Resistance against Japan, Zhejiang University was moved westward to Zunyi to run a school, winning the reputation of "Oriental Cambridge". The only two Gelao autonomous counties in the whole country went hand in hand.

    Zunyi is trying to create a new chapter in the west. Lanhai Expressway runs from north to south; Hangrui Expressway runs from east to west; Guizun Expressway Expansion is spacious and convenient; expressway is available in every county and bituminous streets are seen in every village; Sichuan-Guizhou Railway and Chongqing-Guizhou High-speed Railway cross mountains; Chishui River and Wujiang River navigate to the sea; Zunyi Airport and Moutai Airport are developing side by side, thereby resulting in a three-dimensional transportation system. The state-level economic and technological development zones, comprehensive bonded zones and high-tech parks have boosted Zunyi's deep integration into the Yangtze River economic belt and connection with the "Belt and Road Initiative". Zunyi, as a revolutionary area, is promotes the leap by showing its situation. Jiang-flavor Chinese spirits, high-quality flue-cured tobacco, red, green and white tea, authentic medicinal materials and special food, known as "Five business cards", have been famous at home and abroad. Electronic and information technology, new medicine and healthcare, modern mountain high-efficiency agriculture, cultural tourism, and new building materials, known as "Five emerging industries", have been developed vigorously. “Sizai Nongjia Beautiful Countryside” creates sweet nostalgia, "Simin Community, Beautiful City" has lightened urban life. "Upgrading and establishing grassroots service-oriented Party organizations" is the "last mile" to connect and serve the public. It has won many titles including National Model City for Environmental Protection and the 5^th National Civilized City. Zunyi, a famous city, has made great achievements by taking advantage of the situation. Guided by Xi Jinping's socialist ideology with Chinese characteristics in the new era, we should thoroughly carry through the spirit of the 19^th National Congress of the CPC and the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's keynote speech in the Guizhou delegation.
